Last month, our Distribution and Projects Teams sponsored and participated in the 11th Annual Washington Gas “Light The Night” Golf Tournament benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS) works hard to raise money for research to help find a cure for many who fight blood cancer.
At the event, Jack Keffer (10 years old) was recognized as this year’s Honored Hero.
Jack’s Story: In November of 2012, just three months shy of his 4th birthday, Jack was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and began a 3.5 year treatment protocol that included; countless rounds of chemo and medication, hospital stays and spinal tap procedures. Fortunately, throughout his treatment, Jack exhibited his strong will and desire to get better. In January of 2016, Jack received his last dose of chemotherapy. Now at 10 years old, Jack is more than three years off treatment and is thriving! He is enjoying time with his little brother, Charlie, and is loving 4th grade! Jack is excited to be named an honored hero and hopes that by becoming active partners with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and raising much needed funds, no one will be forced to endure all he has.
