Michael D. Smith
Mike serves as general counsel of InfraSource. In this role, he brings a focused level of legal guidance to the company that is aligned with the company’s operational business strategy. Mike oversees all legal affairs of the company, including contracts, litigation, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Before joining InfraSource, Mike was corporate counsel for Laclede Gas Company and Missouri Gas Energy (now Spire Energy) from October 2008 to August 2014, last serving as Director, Senior Counsel. Previously, Mike was in private law practice from 2005 to 2008 at two highly respected law firms in Kansas City.
Mike earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Finance Emphasis from the University of Kansas in 2001. In 2005, Mike earned his Juris Doctorate and Tax Law Certificate from the University of Kansas. During law school, Mike was selected to the Judge Hugh Means American Inn of Court, was selected as an intern to the U.S. Attorney Office’s Federal Practice Clinic, and was a volunteer in the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program preparing tax returns for lower income, elderly, and disabled taxpayers.
Mike is currently a member of The Missouri Bar and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
